you are like stars blotting out the blackness
and backwards cartwheels into fields scattered with daisies
and those bright yellow subsequent daisy chains that sparkle
from the sun between blue skies and distant clouds
made by little children who giggle and play
you and i used to be like that, remember?
and well, we haven’t changed much
the city holds some fury tonight
yeah, but it always does
so leave it boy, just leave it
it will still be there another day
another day when this isn’t here
the sudden heartbeat and the tapping toes
you know the feeling, remember?
it goes like this:
a shiver, a gaze, a beat, a smile, a laugh, a kiss, a hug
your hand, my hand, our hands together
usually creating:
bliss, perfection, happiness
so why would i want more?
logic can only remind me of these days
spent under trees and within wild grass
spent somewhere unknown to the rest of the world
with poppied colour hearts
those ones on fire from the minutes, the moments
the moments that reminded me of the calm after the storm
the quieter days, remember?
so quaint, so serene
like the stars
and that moon smiling over the world earnestly
like it knew of this, all of this
and i hope it does
because these words will always go unchallenged
and this fire, this blaze, will always glow
and backwards cartwheels into fields scattered with daisies
and those bright yellow subsequent daisy chains that sparkle
from the sun between blue skies and distant clouds
made by little children who giggle and play
you and i used to be like that, remember?
